WHEE--- gosh we're doing REALLY INTERESTING GRAMMAR EXERCISES. -.o (: you should skip the rest of this paragraph if you don't wish to read crap. RECORDING OF SOUNDS IN COMP LAB ONE AT 1123AM: A+ singular noun beginning with a consonant SOUND. well-ell you can't say A HONOUR, you have to say AN HONOUR! (mmmhmmmm) for a, you only use it for singular. why do you say this is a definite article? Because you already know the number of articles...... OH that's a good question that wahtuck asked. A JUNCTION can only be used when...... between two roads there is only one junction....the dog messed up the house again. you know which dog messed up the house again.... it's not any dog.... how about this? 'the' is used.... uncountable..... referring to sth in general sense like coffee or intelligence or even AIR. you can't say I ENJOY BREATHING THE AIR. becuz it's GENERAL. you don't have to specify THE AIR. i enjoy breathing the air in switzerland. now you're making a comparison between... I GIVE YOU A CHALLENGE.... the coffee. blah blah blah. i like drinking THE COFFEE from starbucks. MR FONSEKA, can write the white house with capital letters ah? ei....-bang bang- when do you not use the? you use the when you say sth unique. you do not use THE when you talk about countries.. you don't say THE SINGAPORE or THE CLEM AVE 1. talk about names of continents or names of ppl. i will see THE VIVIAN and the ZHANGLIN later. :D oh is there an exercise? ahh there are two exercises below bt there's no time for you to try (aww) what i want you to do is to remember this website. do this. file. save as. name it GRAMMAR WEBSITE. save it in your own folder. can access it at school... you could save it to your thumbdrive... ei. ei. ei. now this website is really useful! it's suitable for you. -bell rings- (1128AM) if you get your grammar correct ......
